macOS and Linux 1.3.3

Install with Homebrew. Add the AIONS tap once:

brew tap aionstech/tap

From then on TriEdit installs like any other Homebrew package:

brew install triedit

Installing With Homebrew

The same steps work on macOS and Linux.

  1. Install Homebrew

    If you don't have it yet, follow the one-line install on brew.sh.

  2. Add the AIONS tap (once)

    brew tap aionstech/tap

  3. Install TriEdit

    brew install triedit

    Or add the tap and install in one go:

    brew install aionstech/tap/triedit

  4. Start it

    Run triedit, or open a file directly: triedit report.docx

Update with brew upgrade triedit; remove with brew uninstall triedit.

Installing With PowerShell

On Windows 10 and 11, without clicking through a setup.

  1. Open PowerShell

    Press the Windows key, type PowerShell and open it. No administrator rights are needed.

  2. Paste this line and press Enter

    irm https://triedit.aions.click/install.ps1 | iex

    It downloads the newest TriEdit, checks that it is signed by AIONS, installs it for your account and starts it.

  3. Update or remove

    Run the same line again to update TriEdit. Remove it with Settings > Apps.

Installing this way means you accept the license agreement and the privacy policy. You can read the script first.

macOS 12 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel. The app is signed on your Mac during installation; it is not notarised by Apple.

x64 or arm64 with a graphical desktop (X11, or Wayland through XWayland), plus fontconfig and ICU, which most distributions already have.

Dictate

A microphone. The speech model (75 MB or larger, you choose) is downloaded the first time, after asking; then Dictate works offline. On macOS the microphone permission is asked for the terminal you start TriEdit from.
